Once again, I had the privilege of being the second shooter for this gorgeous wedding. I didn’t get the opportunity to meet the bride and groom ahead of time, but that did not stop Karen and Garth from being gracious and welcoming to me throughout the day as I shot alongside the primary photographer Jill. In fact, I truly enjoy second shooting sometimes because it gives me the opportunity to take an even further step back from the wedding day to capture all of the in-between moments that make the day that much richer.
I started the day off at the Palmer House Hotel where I photographed Garth and his groomsmen. Karen and Garth opted for a first look in the hotel mezzanine and it was the perfect setting to have some quiet time before the day was off and running. We had a great time as we toured the city with the wedding party stopping along the way at the Chicago River, the Kinzie St. Bridge area, and finally our ceremony and reception site, Prairie Production.
The day was filled with friends and family from all over the world, the love between two sweet and genuine people, and pretty much the best maid of honor speech I’ve ever heard.
